Logar valley (Logarska dolina)

Explore some of Slovenia’s most scenic highland landscapes on this nature-focused day trip from Ljubljana. You’ll drive north through rolling countryside to the heart-shaped Planšarsko Lake in Jezersko, then continue on the Solčava Panoramic Road with breathtaking views of alpine meadows and mountain peaks. The highlight of the day is the Logar Valley (Logarska dolina) and the majestic Rinka Waterfall, one of Slovenia’s most outstanding natural spectacles.

Planšarsko Lake (Jezersko)

Plansarsko lake (Jezersko)

Your first stop is Planšarsko Lake (often called the heart-shaped lake), a tranquil spot nestled in the Jezersko valley. This small lake was created by locals in memory of an ancient glacial lake and remains a beloved symbol of the area. Enjoy a leisurely walk on the gentle path around the lake, take in reflections of the surrounding alp peaks, and optionally have a coffee or light snack at the lakeside restaurant.

Solčava Panoramic Road – Scenic Drive

After crossing Austrian border (don't forget to bring your passports with you) we continue our journey back to Slovenia and the Solčava Panoramic Road, a regional scenic route that winds through hills, alpine pastures, and classic mountain scenery. It brings us to the elevation above 1500 meters for magnificent alpine views. This road offers picture-perfect viewpoints of high peaks and pastoral landscapes — ideal for short photo stops en route to Logar Valley.

Arrive in Logar Valley, one of Europe’s most impressive glacial valleys. Here you can enjoy the serene meadows framed by towering peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. We will drive through the walley or can have a short walk of it.

Rinka Waterfall:

Drive to the end of the valley road and park near the Rinka Waterfall area. From the parking area, it’s a walk (short hike) of around 15–20 minutes along a well-marked path to the waterfall viewpoint. The Rinka Waterfall drops roughly 95 m, making it one of Slovenia’s tallest and most dramatic waterfalls. Take your time to enjoy the mist, mountain sounds, and photo opportunities. The trail is uneven, so make sure to wear appropriate shoes.
