No visit to Lake Bled is complete without a ride on a traditional Pletna boat, a wooden vessel unique to Lake Bled. It's a kind of local gondola, know at least since 16th century. The boat will take you on a scenic tour to Bled island, another iconic destination in the area. Local Cuisine

To complete your Lake Bled experience, you can visit one of the local restaurants, where you can savor the flavors of Slovenian cuisine. Sample traditional dishes such as Kranjska Klobasa (traditional type of pork sausage), Prekmurska Gibanica (a layered pastry), and potica (a nut roll). But of course the most known local speciality is Bled Cream Cake (Blejska cremna rezina, cremsnita). Enjoy a glass of local wine or beer, and soak up the relaxed ambiance of the region.

Another opportunity we shouldn't miss in the area is lake Bohinj visit. A tranquil glacier lake is much less visited than Bled, but not less stunning. They say "Bled is for tourists, Bohinj is for Slovenians". The lake is known for the perfect postcard views, serene surroundings and St.John the Baptist church from 12th century.

Bohinj Lake

Bohinj Lake

On our way there or back I would advise a visit to Radovlica, which is one of the best-preserved XVI-XVII centuries towns in Slovenia. Actually, the best preserved house of XVI century in the coutry is located here. Besides that Radovlica is know as the capital of honey and gingerbreads in Slovenia.
